The reagent kit is designed to detect DNA nodular dermatite virus (Lumpy skin disase virus, LSDV) in biological material (fragments of affected skin cover, organs, whole blood, mucous concussive and rot throat swabs, milk, sperm) using a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with a fluorescent detachment in real time.

Nodular (communicable knot) dermatitis is a viral disease of cattle and buffalo. The agent is from Capripoxvirus, which also includes sheep smallpox and goats. The disease is characterized by fever, dense knots on the skin, increased surface lymph nodes, mucous shells, edema and diarrhea. The virus is carried by blood-sucking insects and mites, and direct contact between animals plays a smaller role. The disease in the herd is usually between 5 and 45 per cent, with mortality generally below 10 per cent. The main damage is reduced productivity, skin damage, abortion and restrictions on the movement of livestock. lumpy skin disease is included in the list of diseases of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), previously OIE, that countries are required to report.

Symptoms of noduular dermatitis are similar to the expressions of pseudonodular dermatitis (type 2 herpesvirus CRS), dermatophilosis, demodecosis, non-noitiasis, prunes and insect bites, so the diagnosis is confirmed laboratoryly. The main method of confirmation recommended by the WWD is the PCR.
