The reagent kit is designed to detect RNA Schmalenberg virus in biological material (integral blood, blood serum, tissue and organ fragments) by reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with real-time fluorescent section (PCR PB OT).

There is currently little information available about the disease, which involves cattle, sheep and goats, regardless of age; European veterinarian communities are doing their utmost to learn more about the new virus that causes foetal defects and stillbirth in cattle, sheep and goats; there are no options for treating this virus at this time, but there is a possibility to prevent its spread, mainly through timely diagnosis; diagnostics in developed countries that have confirmed the existence of the Schmalenberg virus on their territory are conducted exclusively by the PCR method, which is extremely effective in identifying hard-to-cultivated crops, non-cultivated agents, hidden forms of microorganisms with chronic and hidden forms of infection.
