The smallpox of sheep and goats (Variola ovium) is a highly contagious disease caused by DNA, which contains the virus of the same kind. Poxviridae, a family called Capripoxvirus, is characterized by fever, intoxication, development on the skin and mucous shells of papular rashes, high animal mortality, especially among young animals. According to the decision of the OIE, smallpox and goats are classified as group A, rapidly spreading animal diseases.
